A Christmas Farewell

On Saturday, 13th December Honley’s annual subscribers’ concert will take place in Huddersfield Town Hall. This will be the final appearances for our Musical Director, Alan Jenkins and our accompanist, John Oldfield, who have completed 20 years and 40 years service respectively with the choir. Obviously, the occasion will be tinged with sadness, but the choir is determined to pull out all the stops to make this a really memorable evening. Once again, we are pleased to welcome as our guests for the evening the Cory Band from South Wales. This will be the fourth successive year that they have appeared with us. They won the European Championship earlier this year. They finished third in the British Open and third in the British National. They are currently ranked No.2 in the world, but if they win the Brass in Concert competition on November 16 they will go to No.1 If they perform anywhere near as well as they did last year they will be a delight to listen to.
