Ladies Circle

The HMVC LADIES CIRCLE was formed in November 1970 (now celebrating our 40th year) with the aims of generally supporting the choir, raising money for the Choir and enriching the social life of the choir.

Since its formation the Ladies Circle (made up mainly of wives/partners of present and former choir members but recently also including friends & choir supporters) has raised many thousands of pounds for the benefit of the choir and the money used for:

The purchase of uniforms over the years - the current blazer suits were our last effort and hope you agree they are colourful. (We thought they did need brightening up!!)

Contributions of £3000 have been made in 2008 and 2009 towards the staging of the Christmas concert in Huddersfield Town Hall

Various sundry items over the years

Perhaps the most notable of all our contributions was in August 1995 when the Ladies were able to commission an arrangement by Goff Richards of "A Nightingale Sang in Berkley Square" for the memorable concert "Bless Em All" which celebrated 50 years since VE day.

The Ladies enjoy organising various events such as Quiz nights, Silent Auctions, Race Nights which are also very enjoyable social occasions but we also have Ladies only events such as meals out locally or theatre trips which always include a raffle - we never miss an opportunity to raise a quid or two!

Our ANNUAL COFFEE MORNING in November has grown during recent years to include various stalls, but the introduction of selling bacon baps was a winner and does a roaring trade and are not to be missed. Please see the calendar for this years date.

The Choir are celebrating 75 years next year so at present we are joining forces in our fund-raising efforts. Various events are being organised by the joint Action 75 Committee to which you are most welcome.
